As we gear up to celebrate some amazing milestones for ODLC, I have been going through our gigantic archive of resources. I came across a Forbes article written by Paolo Gaudiano in April of 2020, i.e. before the murder of George Floyd ignited a global movement.
In this article, the author postulated that companies prioritizing diversity and inclusion before the Covid-19 pandemic would be more successful in the long-run, for a specific set of reasons.
As I re-read this article, “5 Ways Diversity & Inclusion Help Companies Before, During, & After the Pandemic,” I was struck by how many of the points resonated and still hold true today, with additional evidence and proof of concept coming across our desks daily.
His 5 Categorical Points:
- Before the pandemic: inclusion makes us ready
- During the pandemic: a head start
- During the pandemic: greater resilience
- After the pandemic: faster recovery
- After the pandemic: competitive advantage
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Over 4 years later, do you see these predictions manifested in our environments? As we navigate resistance and encourage the adoption of inclusive, equitable practices in our healthcare industry, these economic (aka “business case”) points can aid in our quests for a better tomorrow.
Keeping the movement going,
