Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What is the Equity Leadership Index (ELI) assessment?
The Equity Leadership Index (ELI) is an on-demand, online assessment designed specifically for departments and institutions in healthcare to gain insights into their equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts. Created by a healthcare professional with years of leadership and clinical expertise, the ELI offers a practical and actionable lens to evaluate current practices, benchmark progress, and receive tailored recommendations that align with your organization’s goals.
2. Who should pursue the Equity Leadership Index assessment?
The ELI is ideal for clinical and non-clinical healthcare leaders, as well as organizations, departments, or divisions focused on advancing health equity and inclusion. It’s especially useful for leaders seeking to align their strategies with equity goals, assess the current state of their diversity and inclusion practices, and drive systemic, meaningful change within their institutions.
3. Why is it important for my organization to do this?
The landscape around health equity, diversity, and inclusion is increasingly complex. Now is the time for organizations to take a deeper dive into how they are structured to engage in efforts that produce fruitful, sustainable results for which everyone benefits. By completing the ELI, your organization can identify areas of growth, strengthen its commitment to equity, and ensure it is prepared for future challenges and expectations in the industry and society.
4. Is the ELI evidence-based?
Yes! The ELI is built on findings from multiple peer-reviewed studies, as well as insights from ODLC’s work with over 100 health equity, diversity, and inclusion leaders. This evidence-based approach ensures that the assessment is not only relevant but grounded in established research and proven frameworks.
5. What types of questions are incorporated into the assessment?
The ELI focuses on three key domains for an organization: interpersonal dynamics, leadership structure & governance, and strategy design and implementation. These domains dive into 15 curated categories of key performance indicators (KPIs), expertly designed by ODLC to provide the most robust and relevant insights. This comprehensive approach reveals actionable data not typically captured in standard assessments, helping organizations unlock their full potential in equity and inclusion.
6. How does ELI compare to alternatives like consulting or culture surveys?
The ELI is an on-demand assessment that can be completed with much more efficiency and specificity than traditional consulting services or culture surveys. It’s designed to be a highly cost-effective solution, providing tailored insights without the need for expensive, ongoing consulting fees. Unlike one-size-fits-all surveys, the ELI offers practical, actionable data to drive systemic change while saving time and resources.
7. How much does it cost, and what does this price include?
The ELI assessment costs $2,500. This includes full access to the assessment tool, a comprehensive results report with insights and recommendations, and the ability to benchmark your organization’s progress. The price also includes an optional 1:1 virtual debrief meeting with an ODLC expert who will review your results with you directly and provide deeper insights tailored to your organization’s needs.
8. Are there any discounts for the ELI?
Yes! ODLC members who have the upgraded Professional or Premium designations are eligible for 10-20% discounts off of the ELI on behalf of their organizations. For more details on how to upgrade your membership level, visit www.orthodiversity.org/membership.
9. How long does the ELI assessment take?
The assessment can take up to 60 minutes to complete, but it doesn’t need to be finished in one sitting. You can take breaks and complete it at your own pace, making it a flexible and convenient tool for busy professionals.
10. What happens after I purchase the ELI tool?
Once you purchase the ELI, you’ll receive a personalized link to start the assessment. After completing it, you will receive a detailed report with actionable insights and recommendations. You’ll also receive an invitation to schedule a 1:1 debrief meeting to discuss your results and get personalized guidance from an ODLC expert.
11. Can I share my link with my colleagues to take the assessment at other institutions?
No. The ODLC Equity Leadership Index is trademarked content, and your personalized link may not be shared outside of your organization. Once you complete the assessment, your link will no longer be valid. This ensures the integrity and confidentiality of the results within your institution.
12. Do I get to keep my responses for future comparisons?
Yes! Your responses and results are securely stored, and you will have access to them for future comparisons. This allows you to track your progress over time, benchmark your improvements, and assess the impact of your equity initiatives.
13. How often should my organization take the ELI?
We recommend completing the ELI every 2-3 years. This allows your organization to assess its progress, update goals, and continue to evolve with the changing landscape of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
14. Will my answers be kept confidential?
100% yes! Your results and recommendations will be shared only with your designated leader in your organization. While the scoring will be aggregated for benchmarking purposes, there will be no external identification that could point to your individual results, ensuring your privacy and confidentiality.
15. What makes the ELI unique?
The ELI stands out because it is specifically designed for healthcare institutions, offering a lens that combines clinical expertise with organizational leadership. It’s not just another generic survey—it’s an evidence-based tool that delivers highly relevant insights for healthcare professionals. By using the ELI, your organization gains actionable recommendations to foster long-term, sustainable change and drive meaningful results in equity and inclusion.
