Debunking DEI Myths

by

Fellow Leaders:

I have a new addition for your leadership toolboxes! Navigating this current landscape requires all of us to be well-versed in the literature, including the current body of evidence allows us to engage in critical conversations with confidence — and with compelling data.

The “It’s the Right Thing to Do!” moral imperative argument is no longer sufficient to drive change in the direction that positively benefits our patients, teams, and communities. We must also be prepared for the counterpoints and contradictions inherent in this complex leadership domain.

To arm yourself with the language that can address resistance and garner support, review this recent release from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). In this review, six common myths about DEI in medical schools are addressed in great detail, with critical points and links to some of the relevant studies.

Not in academics? Not a problem. You will find that the points presented can be translated to all areas of healthcare, including the MedTech Industry!

As always, we got you covered at ODLC. Let us know how we can support you.

Leading with the Evidence,

Dr. Erica Taylor,
